my friend has a 1997 Chevy Tahoe v8 350 2 wheel drive with a 4l60e transmission in it. All the gears are gone and the tranny accept first and second. I was wondering what transmissions other than the 4l60e are interchangeable with this on this vehicle? Or is it advisable to stick with the 4l60e? I'm trying to get them to do the work themselves and just buy one from a pick and pull. Can anyone tell me how hard it will be to swap out trannys? Is there anything specific I should know before we venture into this...??

 

I've heard the 4l65 is made tougher. They put them in envoys Tahoes and the Pontiac gto maybe? You would be best off with a 4l80e but you have to have a computer for it. Look for a 2500/3500 truck
