Default 69 Vette 350 - Knock Question

Hey All,

New to the forum and looking for some suggestions. I have a 69 vette that I did a frame off on. Engine full rebuild with heads, guides, valves, lapped, line bore, etc... At the end of last season noticed a knock that I rung up to needing a valve adjust on it as it sounds like the drivers side. I am pretty sure it is the #5 cylinder. Just got done adjusting all the valves and still has the knock sound. One thing I noticed, when I was adjusting (valve covers removed and running) I felt hot air blowing around the top of the lifter on #5. None of the other lifters had this happening. Kind of confused here and trying to narrow what I should be focusing on. Was thinking a bad valve seal? But to get that blow by off the rocker could it be a burnt valve?

Another potential issue is the engine is 11/1 compression and I have run 93 in it but thinking perhaps that is only a partial issue here. I should note the engine prob has under a 1000 miles on it since the rebuild.

Anyone with any ideas to get me thinking would be appreciated.

What you post, and asking questions about it? Sorry, I just had to. You'll need to do a compression check, and if the valve seal is leaking, that should show on the plug. Sounds like you have alot on the ball, congrats on having a 69, my fav vette is a 58.
