To "launch" better, you need to increase your gear ratio.
What do you have in it now ?
Remember, the more turns to the Driveshaft, is going to knock you top end down. Why do you think that 3.73 is the right gear ?

Rear wheel drive GM transmission gear ratios Here is a site that can help assist you on your gear ratios for your gear ratio these are the stock versions. I have known people to run them up to 4.10 gear ratio and who put in a 350 turbo with performance rebuild kit and a shift kit. In my opinion most I have known have gone to 3.73 or go down to a 3.42 or 3.23 gears ratio though. It is just what you plan to use it for and how much fun you plan to have with it. If it's a race car I say have fun if you know your stuff and can maintain it well.

You may have 3.73 in it now. But until you're sure, it's really hard to give any recommendation. Are you going to do anything to get your RPM's up ?
