89 454 hesitation and stalling
So I recently bought an 89 suburban with a 454. I was informed of a throttle body issue before I bought it but the truck ran pretty good for the most part. I drove it 300 miles from Phoenix to riverside and it did pretty well except for about 45 minutes of the drive. I turned off the ac and it ran way better for 200 miles. It started up and ran well the next morning but by the afternoon it was choking and stalling much more.
it seems electrical as it runs well sometimes then will run rough, kinda back and forth for minutes at a time. The service light is on sometimes and off sometimes and will run good or bad either way but the engine light always flickers along with the hesitation.
My mechanic can’t get to it for another week, any help is appreciated 👍🏻

ok, just took a good look at the wires. They actually look pretty new but the two plug boots I first looked at are discolored from heat. The wires and boots on the distributor side look pretty new, so I’m guessing plugs, cap and rotor would have been done as well. It’s been suggested throttle positioning sensor🤷🏻♂️

I usually get those items at Rock auto if I have the time to wait for shipping; or usually available at local parts stores if you need them quicker. Other smart folks can chime in on brand preferances. I would do a full tune before going to the throttle body
