'95 Chevy G20 Van Rear Axle Noise
Just bought a 1995 G20 that is making a little bit of a grinding noise from the rear endas I am driving. I took the wheels off and checked out the shoes and the drums, but they appear to be in good condition.
Does anyone here have an idea of what might cause this?

i'd pull ur rear diff cover off and check the fluid, bearings, and gears inside. might even be a u-joint. do u feel ne kind of vibration or just hear a noise? is it at certain speeds?

I did check the fluid, and it was low, so I filled it up, but it still grinds.
There is no vibration, just noise, and it sounds at anywhere over about 10mph.
I'll see if I can pull that diff. off sometime this weekend.
Thanks for your thoughts on it.

Does your van have the G80 (limited slip differential)?
If so, there is an additive to add from GM (small 2 or 4 oz bottle - cant remember exactly) that keeps it from grinding.
