Recently, my 96 chevy G30 stopped blowing air through the vents and the levers do nothing. Any ideas what this might be?

 

Are you saying it doesn't blow air through any of the vents? Is the blower motor running?

 

Yes, air's only blowing out from defrost, the ac/heat levers used to work, but when I move it around..it only stays on defrost mode.

 

There is an actuator under the dash that controls where the air blows. It is probably bad. This is quite common as they are made of plastic with plastic gears.

I apologize for posting on this older thread, but did that fix the issue? I just signed up for this forum for this exact issue. I went through my Chilton's manual, but couldn't find anything obvious. My van is a 1990 GMC conversion van. Was the actuator hard to get to?

 

That's ok, it's a new thread. My problem turned out to be the vacuum hose. It was worn and the levers are used through a vacuum system.
