I’ve had my Chevy captiva 2010 for about a month now and am interested in getting apple car play.
I’m assuming I’d need a new multimedia screen ?
any thoughts on this would be great please 🙏

 

A lot of the functions in the vehicle (door chimes, seatbelt warning, turn signal noise) are tied to the factory radio. The way this works with aftermarket entertainment systems is that you also buy a special "magic box" that lets you connect all the functionality of your specific vehicle, including things like steering wheel mounted controls, to the new head unit in the dash.

I advise looking at a reputable reseller such as Cruchfield.com (they've been around for decades - I was ordering stuff from them in the mid 80's). They let you search by vehicle for what will work with your car, and will offer several levels of "install kits". The free one may lose some vehicle functionality, but will let the unit fit in your dash. The highest end install package will likely preserve all vehicle specific functions.

 

This is a good idea. When I was buying accessories for my F150 before, I always bought them on the Garvee website. There are a great variety of products and the after-sales service is also very good. I think you can search on it and find something satisfactory.
