Automatic Trans Problems
I have a 1968 Camaro F body, 2wd with a 383 engine with a holley 770, eaton 3.73 rear end. The transmission is from bowtie overdrives and its a 2004R stage 3 with a 2400 torque converter with a trans cooler and deep pan. The shifter is a B&M pro ratchet automatic.
So, with all that info out of the way, let me tell you what the problem is. Under normal driving conditions, the trans temp is averaging 180 degrees in 70 degree weather outside. If I go above 3000rpm too much the trans temp will jump to 200+ extremely fast and then slowly drop. I don't dare take it above 4000rpm even though she can go to 6000 easy. When it was operating normally, it would stay at 140 degrees unless I took the car to the track and even then it NEVER got above 160 degrees and this would be in 85+ degrees.
The worst part is the car is substantially slower than it used to be. It feels like I have lost at least 80+ horsepower. I have already had the trans cooler and all of the lines checked and everything was fine... No blocks in the line or problems with the trans cooler. So the problem must be internal.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be the problem? Please ask me as many questions as you need to!

maybe try a bigger cooler and get a pusher fan to help get air through it faster. with having a stall converter it doesnt surprise me as a "stall" converter is just creating a controlled trans slip, causing the extra heat.
