Backing Heavy Trailer Loads
Someone recently told me that "the worst thing you can do to an automatic transmission is back a heavy load".
This is the first i ever heard of a concern with backing up and putting a load on a transmission.
Anyone have any data to support or disprove this?
I did check my 2007 Silverado owners manual and there is no reference to a concern or limitation on backing up in the trailering section.

These trucks are made to tow. I have a trailer hitch on the front that I use for moving my 30' travel trailer and work boat trailers around. You would not believe how easy it is to put your trailer in an area that you would not normally even try.

i concur with Bud. the front mounted hitches made my scoutmasters life easier pushin the camp trailer into the hardest spots on muddy or even snowy terrain. hey bud, you got a 30" trailer. watcha keep in there a tire? im kiddin we know you meant 30'. either way if you think about it forward or reverse heavy loaded or not doesnt matter. in artard terms, think of the reverse gear as a backwards forward first gear. lotta torque an such.
