Default Bad Shifting After Transmission Install

Hey everybody, hoping to hear an easy solution to my problem... Just installed a rebuilt transmission (w/ 4000 miles) into my 2011 Impala LS. It seems to shift fine from Park DOWN to 1, going thru R, N, D, 3, 2, 1... but on the way back up it doesnt seem to go into gear at the proper intervals of moving the shifter and seems like its in between selections. The PRND321 on dash dont show the square around the intended selections either (on the way UP).

Any suggestions or advice? How many quarts of fluid is this thing supposed hold? Cant find a definitive answer...

after you get the fluid level correct; reset the transmission adaptive learning using a scan tool. You must do this as the tcm has learned to compensate for the old worn slipping transmission. You should have also flushed the trans ccoler lines and rad as you don't want any debris from the failed trans going into the newer trans.

non police package fluid level is
pan drop 7 liters
overhaul 9.5
dry trans 12.7
