Default Brake lite stay on even with brake lite switch disconnected

Hi all! Are the brake lights somehow connected to the turn signals? My brake lights won't work even if I bypass the brake light switch & sent power to the lights. I was recently working on mt turn signals but think I got it back together correctly. Thanks for any help.

Welcome from Florida. If your brake lights are on all the time even with the switch disconnected, you have a short in the wiring. The 64 brake light circuit is pretty simple with no computers to deal with.

to confirm this check for power at the switch connector...should have battery voltage going into the switch and 0 volts on the other wire. if yo have voltage on both with the switch disconnected...its shorted to power after the switch.
