Might just need to have the rotors turned. As for pads, I like ceramics, but others like semi-metallic. Is it a K or a C 1500?

Ummm k or c??? Can you tell me how to find out?? 😯 when I step on the brake I can hear metal on metal so I know I need my brakes changed possibly my rotors too but I want to order them online I just don't know what kind of supposed to get. I'm embarrassed that I don't even know the specs on my truck.

C is a 2 wheel drive and K is a 4 wheel drive.

Like OldChevy said, the C means its a two wheel drive rear axle only. The K is a four wheel drive, with a shifter to switch between 4x4 and 2x4, so your main axle on the road is your rear axle, not front wheel drive like most cars are. You can find lots of info online at Rock Auto. You just put in your vehicle specs and it will show you what they have for your Chevy.

You can look your vehicle up on Advance Auto, Auto Zone, etc. sites. They will likely list several options. If you are just servicing your brakes and not trying to do any upgrades, go with the parts that are identified as original equipment. I'm guessing on an 08 the pads are ceramic. The semi-metallic pads would be a little softer and might work well with a used rotor, especially if you don't have the rotors resurfaced or replaced. Semi-metallic pads will also create more brake dust on your wheels. I would stay away from anything labeled organic.
