Default Broken Piston Connecting Rod Stuck in Block

Hey, y'all, brand new user here and I'm looking for some help. There's a broken connecting rod in stuck in my block and I'm looking for tips on removing it. I have a 250k 4.3 TBI engine that grenaded itself and I'm making a brave attempt at rebuilding it. Connecting rod broke off and poke through the oil pan. I have the engine out and partially disassembled but the connecting rod is stuck between the crank and the block. The way the broken pieces are laid out, I can't rotate it. I'm currently going at it with a chisel to try to break it into smaller pieces. I understand the great concern about crack the block like this now or weakening it enough to crack in the future. Has anyone had this problem before and did my solution eventually work or did you do something else?

Not sure yet but I have a newer crank for her so I'm not super worried about breaking it.
