Burning excessive gas.

Burning excessive gas.
I have a chevy 350, 330 hp, Turbo 350 transmission with 373 rear end gears. Burns excessive gas, should I go down to 343 gears to save gas?

Who cares? This is a 350 carbureted with TH350 in a 45 year old sled. Fuel economy isnt an issue here besides we dont know what "it uses excessive gas" means. How do you drive? Are you a little old church lady or Mario Andretti? Is there a 2bbl or 4bbl on it? Lot of factors first before you decide to drop the rear end.

Hi disgranny,
Welcome to the Chevy Forums.
As to your problem, 373 to 342 won't be that noticeable, or
appreciable a difference. You would probably want to jump to
@the 323 range to see something noticeable, but due to torque shear
that might be inadvisable.
Not to mention the job will run @1200-1400$$, if you have it done.
