I have a 2007 Impala SS equipped with on star(not currently activated) I also have a Verizon wireless account with an extra line I do not use. I would like to be able to have that line function in my car phone (hands free). Is it possible to disable on-star and still have the car phone work as a regular cell phone???

I think if you do a search for onstar adapter you will find what your looking for. I know a couple companies are making replacement modules.
