Default can you run without tpms

I'm going to be putting aftermarket wheels on my 2008 impala-can I run them without the tpms sensors or will this cause some problems?

I've been told it shouldn't affect anything except that an idiot light will stay on.

Has anyone done this or knows the outcome?

The idiot light will stay on, and the DIC will say Service TPMS. It's freaking annoying. i just put aftermarket wheels on my 07. You have to hit the DIC button everytime you crank the vehicle.

Thanks for the feedback!
I have winter tires on the original wheels and I'm trying to avoid buying new sensors for the new American Racing wheels I got for summer.

Thanks again!
