If the motor is running, the alternator is being turned by the belt so should be charging. Will likely get more output when driving vs idling in the dive way. Any problems??

best way to tell is remote start the vehicle and put a volt meter on it. i would think it would charge as some systems are set up to cycle on and off if, lets say you leave it at the airport parking for the week
