A chevy 350 ('73) in a '68 Olds cutlass?
I know its a cutlass, its the closest I could find to a chevelle without emptying my savings. I just bought a 1968 cutlass but it has a bad crank (350 olds), the tranny is a 3 speed manuel. I love my chevy 350 motors, but can one work in this car. What if I change both engine and tranny to chevy?
Motormounts are a bit of a PITA, but it's do-able. For some reason Chevy, Buick,Pontiac, and Oldsmobile all had their own versions of the 350 back then.
I think you'll also find that while most of the trannys(bearing in mind there was the 2-speed powerglide, THM350, and THM400) were similar, but the bellhousings and torque-converters were different.
L-Chevy
P-Pontiac
J,H,X-Buick
O-Oldsmobile
All these letter designations were for different GM 350 engines.

I don't think a Chevy motor will bolt up to a Olds tranny.
My suggestion is to go with a motor and tranny out of a Chev car or truck.
It shouldn't be to hard to fab up some motor and tranny mounts for it.
Probably be more reliable. And easier to find parts for. And cheaper...................
(edit) I just reread your post and saw that the car is a manual? I'll bet that you can find a bell housing for it to mate up to a chev motor, If you want to keep it a manual.

Just use chevelle parts. It will work. Chevelle mounts should bolt in. "What if I change both engine and tranny to chevy?" Piece of cake. The chassis is very similar to a Chevelle. The bellhousing pattern is different. Use a chevy bellhousing. A 4 speed should be the same length as a th350.
