Default Cooling Fans not working Caprice 96 LT1 5.7 V8

Hi all

I have just bought a Chevrolet Caprice 1996 ex Police LT1 5.7 V8 and the Cooling fans have been manually connected to the Headlight which means that to turn them on will I have to turn on the Headlights and I am trying to rewire them back to normal.

I have found the 4 Wires that were cut off which supply power to the Fans but am not really sure which one connects to which as three of them are all Black ? I have attached a Picture of this.

Then will I check the Fuse and maybe a relay I suppose ?

After doing some research have I also found out that there is a Sensor (not the Temperature Sensor) at the front of the Engine near the Water pump that is used to control the Fans.

Can anyone advice me on what the best steps would be in order for me to get these Fans back to its Original functioning please.

Thanks a Bunch !

I have found two fuse Boxes, on in the inside of the Car which I don't think has any fuses that are related to the Fans but the fuse box under the Hood (Bonnet) has a Fuse Box with Fan Fuses and Relays that I am going to change now. There is also a Sensor in the front of the Engine and I believe that the Coolant has to be drained in order to remove it and find the part Number and I was wondering if anyone may have the Part Number for that Sensor instead ?

Thanks

Nice, thanks...but are these not the coolant temperature Sensors ? like I know there are two different Sensors...one for the Coolant Temp Dial and another one to control the Fan function located near the water pump....thanks again

I have a 96 LT1 caprice, buy, so you can fix it yourself the 800 page (2 books) factory service manual. Its ALL in there.
