Default Cruise Control Problems

I have a 2000 Chev. 3500 with a 454ci engine. I am having problems with the cruise not turning on and working. I have checked the fuse and it is ok. I have tried disconnecting my battery and re-connecting it. The times I have tried using it, it will not activate and when I hold down the accelerate portion of the controls ....Still nothing...can anyone give me some idea's of where to look next......

A simple place to start is check to see if the brake lights come on when you step on the brake pedal. The cruise won't work if there is a problem with the brake pedal switch. If your not having problems with the speedometer then it could be the cruise switch cluster.
