I have no communication between ecm and scanner. engine turns over starts then dies. installed new gas filter same thing. gas comes out of gas line with key on then cycles off.

 

Try the cigar lighter fuse, I think, and not knowing your vehicle, is the power to the ecm plug.

 

Thanks for responding. I looked in my fuse box for a blown fuse in the cigar lighter spot. There was not fuse. I installed a fuse in there and checked communication with my scanner and there is still an error message. I have a 1998 Chev express van 3/4 ton 5.7 engine and its automatic. Is there something else I can try?
