Default Engine Power Reduced

I was on my home tonight Friday 5/29/15@10:47 pm. I stopped at a red traffic light. When the light changed to green, I removed my foot from the brake pedal, placed my foot on the accelerator and nothing happened. I pressed harder, at this time I noticed the message that read Engine Power Reduced. The car would only move at a rate of speed of 10mph, then only 20 mph. Luckily, I was a block away from my home. I have had this car since June 2014. Prior to this, I did not have any problems with my car. Please advise.

Welcome to the Forum DVA, and...
Welcome to the Club of that message. Happens to most of us at times, and there are numerous threads here, which discuss a variety of fixes, though, there seems to be no single one that works, for everyone.

Do a search, and if you're still in need, come on back and we can discuss it more.

Default Action Taken!

I called Chevrolet customer care on Saturday, May 30, to speak with someone regarding the Recalls. I spoke with a nice Customer Service Representative, Iris, who then transferred me to a scheduler for the local dealership. My Chevy Cobalt was one of the vehicles that needed repair for recalls. My car was towed into a local Chevrolet dealer where I was advised that two out of the three required replacements would be completed, they did not have one of the parts in stock. I was also informed that would be charged $85 (with my authorization) for a diagnostic to find out about the engine power notice. I asked the service advisor if that had anything to do with my recall he made a statement that I was assuming that it was my transmission and I stated to him that I'm not assuming anything because I don't know anything about cars. Hopefully, this engine malfunction will be resolved and not an ongoing problem.
