Default Engine swap

OK. Stupid question.... I've got a wrecked 1988 Chevy Pickup with a great engiine and a rebuilt transmission. I've got a 1986 Chevy pickup with a clapped out engine and possibly transmission. Is it a straight out swap, '88 drivetrain into '86?

That should work. Your two best buddies right now should be a flashlight and a tape measure.

Be sure. Take notes if you have to. Compare the transmission mounting brackets and tailpieces, the engine motor mounts, the length of the drive shafts, and any other mating surfaces and bolt-up points.

Also check electrical and ignition similarities, and transmission linkages. Do a walk-thru of the entire procedure before you disconnect anything on either truck.(Notes?)

And please re-post when you're done, we all enjoy success stories.
