fuel guage reading wrong
on a 1976 caprice the gas guage is reading 1/4 fuel.
it seems to me that it is empty.i know the sending unit(float) is in the gas tank.i have tried blowing air in the fuel line but nothing. if i removed the sending unit would it possible to clean it up real good and make it work again?

Sure its not your gage? Unplug sending unit, jump wires together. Gage should read full tank, if not check for sending unit hanging up on something in tank. I wouldnt reuse old unit, new one is farely cheap.
