Default Fuel question...

Hi,
I just bought a 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500hd with the 8.1 liter engine. Im almost positive that its a gasoline engine but when i opened up the fuel door today there was a sticker on the inside that said low sulfur diesel fuel only. So my question is, do i have a gas engine or a diesel engine? THanks a lot!

That year, the larger engines were 6.0L Vortec,8.1 L Vortec, and 6.6L Duramax(Diesel).Sumfin's rotten in Denmark if you have an 8.1L Vortec(gas) engine, and diesel instructions at the fill tube. Does your emissions specs sticker under the hood say 8.1L? Where did you buy this truck, and who told you it's a 8.1L gas engine? These are ugly truths you need to examine carefully before you add fuel to your vehicle.

Well i am not 100% positive but i believe the nozzles for gas and diesel are different sizes and a the diesel nozzle is bigger and will not fit in the neck of a gas vehicle

Dude, it wouldn't be the first time a salesman lied to sell a car. Contractually, they're only responsible for what they say IN WRITING. Did the salesman put 8.1L Vortec engine on the contract?

Look under the hood, does the emissions sticker say 6.6L Duramax or 8.1L Vortec?

Sniff the gas tank, can you smell gasoline, or diesel oil? A deisel engine will smell and sound like a tractor-trailer, does yours?

Get somebody who has some mechanical background to look at it quick, because you seem to be foundering here. The salesman at the dealership told you just what you wanted to hear, in my opinion.
