My prior truck was a F-150 which had the retractable step and grab handle that made it very easy to get up an into the bed and to return to the ground. I found this Hitchmate Grab Handle sold by Home Depot and it takes care of half the problem and works with any pickup truck.

Add an Amp Research step at the rear and with these two additions the Chevy is almost as good as the F-150 in terms of access to the bed.

 

Good solution. The Hitchmate handle and an AMP step are a solid combo that gets the job done.
