HELP! 8qts out when oil changed!!!-now no reading on dipstick
Ok, I changed the oil as I have for the last 5 years on our FWD 2010 Equinox I4 with a 2012 replacement engine installed in 2012. Engine cylinder walls were defective from the factory and the engine used about 1.5 quarts of oil every 1k miles, engine was replaced under warranty.
Situation:
Drained oil from passenger side rear facing oil drain plug
8+ quarts of oil came out-slight smell of gas noted?
After putting in 5 quarts of Mobile 1 synthetic and changing the oil filter I started the engine, low oil pressure/engine stop light and alarm bell sounded.
I shut off the engine and checked the oil level- NO OIL ON DIPSTICK!?
I added #6 quart, still no oil on dipstick!?
Checked New oil filter for oil saturation-New filter was saturated with old crankcase oil.
Checked oil drain catch pan-noted small metallic chunks of various sizes, from 3-4 to 6X the size of a grain of sand.
I've read that the fuel pump seals fail and cause fuel to leak into the oil.
Update, tried to drain new oil from oil pan-only a little bit of the old oil left in there, so the other 6 quarts are up on the head under the valve cover. Called for a tow truck to the dealership.
Will update when diagnosis confirmed-UPDATE, Road side assistance informed me that we are still under our 5 year warranty, it's good until Dec 15 2014- Man, that was CLOSE!!
Thanks in advance for any help
Cheers

I just called the dealer and mentioned the coolant should be checked for oil mix and level-incase the coolant is draining into the engine.
Dealership checked oil pan content-another quart of old nasty oil in there, I also checked before the vehicle was towed and removed about 0.5 quarts, on top of the 8.5 already removed. where the heck did those new 6 quarts of oil go that I put in there!?
In total an estimated 9.5 to 10 quarts of nasty black oil have come out of this engine.........? I am meticulous when it comes to checking and changing the oil.
Dealer called a few minutes ago and stated that they added oil and it showed on the dipstick?Huh?? WTF is going on!!!???
Dealer said they will run the engine and change oil today and let me know what they find.
I am surprised to say the least. I am very concerned because there was metal fragments in the old oil, and the drained oil was up by 3.5 quarts, it looked very dark in color and stunk-I will be sending some out for an oil analysis.
I'm currently wondering if there isn't a beach towel stuck up in the cylinder head at this point. Will update after determining how this pig got off the ground and circled Portland.
Cheers
Info update, If I don't unload this vehicle this weekend, I will be taking an oil sample to ALS Labs located in Portland next week, first day I am able. Maybe the UOA will show me something.
