Default Help with my small block.

Hello guys, I am having a headache trying to find out all the correct information about my engine. There are other people trying to fin out by using the casting numbers by the back of the engine but looks like the number has a printing error, I know it’s a 350 5,7, but I would like to know exactly what I have. does anyone has a good idea of how can I get all the information about my engine? Year? What vehicle was originally from? Hp, etc I need parts and the auto parts always give me issues as they need the year or model of my vehicle. I can’t tell them athat I have a Datsun 1975 with a sbc lol, Any help will be appreciated.

This is a Datsun 1975 280z, it doesn’t goes back more than 1980.

Could this number be 10066086 or 10066036?

I came up with this: 1986 on up block # 10066036...350....2 or 4...Target Master/Goodwrench crate motor, 2-piece rear seal, "Hecho en Mexico". Someone put a hell of a lot of work into that engine bay, that's for sure! 1984-1986 GM was using those POS "electronic" carburetors, before TBI came out in 87-88. What a nightmare those gizmo's were!

Thanks for the information, it helps a lot, actually there are some Datsuns with V10 engines, however the most common v8 upgrades are sbc’s and Ls engines. It already has the edelbrock engine Combo upgrades (Heads, Manifold, valve covers, carburetor etc.) the issue that I have is that the car was in storage for several years and looks that I might need to replace seals and gaskets. The car was turning on without a problem, now I am having hard time and now just crank but won’t start, I had back fires so I replaced the valve covers and headers gaskets, I twisted the distributor a little to the right and turned back I don’t know if that could be one of the reason.

As we used to do, before electronic controls, we'd advance the ignition until it knocked then back it down to a normal timing for the engine and octane of the gasoline.
