Default help with tans that will fit with a 250 slant 6

wll i am 15 and just got my first car and it is a 50 chevy fleetline that has some problems with its trans. so i need some ideas for a new trans that will fit with its 250 slant 6.

well it is a thee on the tree and I will put some pic on as soon as i can. but ya any help would be helpful.

Ah, my straight-six days...

Consult with a large junkyard in your area, they have interchange manuals which will tell you what fits, if they don't outright know off the top of their heads. Plus you can get a decent deal on a clean used tranny.

alright maybe I will do that any other things you can think off please tell. An other thing can you convert the closed drive train to a open drive train?

Gary, didn't the early rodders use the torque tube third members in some of those early hot rods? I know for a fact that they were tough as nails. Think I remember seeing one in Eddie Hill's Shop on his twin engine Pontiac rail (when I was much younger).

ya mine has a torque tube in it and by the way my dad is helping me out and he is doing alot of body work right know thought. but please get back to me if you find anything!

hey cam i guess you have a 216 or 235 straight six with a three speed on the tree .instead of a Chrysler slant six? . the most common way was to get an open drive line 55 chevy rear end and put a small block chevy 327, 350 ect .with a turbe 400 automatic trans.

You need a large city for the bigger junkyards. They also call themselves automotive recyclers now. How far is Preston from a major city?

well logan is the biggest city in the area.
