Default How is connected the TECH2 to the EBCM?

Hello,
I have a basic scan tool to read DTC, erase, see the data stream and freeze data. I think it only talks to the PCM via the OBD2 plug.
Did someone can explain how the TECH2 is connected to various devices EBCM, BCM, Radio..., by this single OBD2 socket?
The PCM is not connected to the EBCM.
after entering the VIN in the TECH2, which is the way to accurately access the EBCM to have on the wheel speed sensor information, for example?
Is there an available video?

thank you for your answers.

The factory scan tool connects the same way; via the 16 pin doc connector. A cheap coach reader can only access powertrain or p codes P00XX. A tech2 is capable of reading body, chassis, undefined and powertrain dtc.
If you want to read ebcm data you would need something that can read chassis codes.

For cars 2006 and newer, the scan tool must have a control area network diagnostic interface to communicate with the modules as different protocols are used.

Tech2 thank you and congratulations for all your posts.

After research, it seems that my Chevrolet 1998 and 2002, the protocol used is the J1850 VPW. (In reality from 1996 to 200x)
For those who would have the same question that me, this bus consists of a single wire (pin 2 of the OBD2 connector). This wire would be connected to each module, each module can communicate with another. The TECH2 is only a temporary module "in this protocol system".

SAE J1850 VPW (Variable Pulse Width at 10.4/41.6 Kpbs, single wire)
Pin 2: BUS+ signal
Idle bus level is low
High signal voltage level: +7V (min/max 6.25 to 8.00)
Low signal voltage level: 0V (min/max 0.00 to 1.50)
Up to 12 message bytes, excluding frame delimiters
Bit Timing;
"1" Bit: Signal low for 128uS or high for 64uS
"0" Bit: Signal low for 64uS or high for 128uS
Start-Of-Frame: Signal high for 200uS
Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Non-Destructive Arbitration (CSMA/NDA).

It would have been nice to have a video showing the TECH2, selection to the EBCM.

Best regards.

its pretty simple...
plug in the scan tool to dlc, key on engine off
power up scan tool
select diagnostics, model year, make
select chassis
select ebcm
select data display

Hello,
Thank you again tech2
it can not actually be easier.
but I've never had this tool in hand.
For those who do not have this tool and begin to see the capabilities of the TECH2 search "Vetronix tech2 user guid" on google. pdf file.
I am seeking information because I plan to buy a TECH2.

just be aware that without a candi module it will not communicate will anything 2006 or newer. It is totally obsolete after the 2014 model even with a candi module....anything with a global A platform.

I have heard story of people buying $350 china versions of the tedh2 only to find that they are not set up to perform all functions of the $5000 factory scan tool.

check out autoenguity.com for their laptop based scan tool. See what you think. Its what I would get.

Hello,
What is the process of a no professional?
the first objective is to operate its 1996 2005 cars and if the device can diagnose cars until 2014 with the CANdi this is just more. But it is primarily for my 1998 2001 models!. Not to be completely helpless in case of failure, I have nothing to do with the updates, I only wish they kept running and thus monitor and know them better.

Without tech2 you change things blindly, with tech2 you possibly have a track. or I hope. You approach the vehicle differently.

We see that the industry is changing every ten years. An individual can not invest in a tool whose price exceeds the price of the used car.
I have to explain that in my country there are quite a few Chevrolet (which makes them even more beautiful and original), but the nearest TECH2 must be more than 600 miles. the technician and the seller is not waiting for me and I do not expect after them. In another thread, someone is unable to do so because no crank relearn tool.
I bought at very low prices ($ 1000 with a new box!) in an authorized dealer, chevrolet because they have never been able to fix it. Problem keys and immobilizer VATS. I did 800 miles with this vehicle on a plate!
Here, this technology is not accompanied by technicians.
So the problem is to roll these cars without the dealership nearby, so we have to think different.
