I’m wondering how reliable should this car be.
I have a 1931 Ford roadster it weighs only 2340lbs
here’s what’s in it.
1985 SBC 350 factory bottom end rebuilt 10 years ago with 11,000 miles heads are “lightest of the cast iron heads produced in 1985” rebuilt as well at the same time. Only thing internally that’s aftermarket is a Edelbrock street cam. Bolt ons include: Edelbrock AVS 2 carburetor, Edelbrock performer intake manifold, eagle headers, just a pulley for the water pump and alternator. Copper radiator/ electric fan.
transmission: 1968 Aluminum Powerglide also rebuilt 10 years ago factory specs only mod is a moroso aluminum deep pan with a aluminum cooler.
rear end: 12 bolt gm posi also rebuilt at the same time not sure of year.
what I’m wondering - if everything is solid rebuilt by a professional how solid is this set up and how much abuse will it take. This car was handed down to me from a family member who passed away he drove his cars hard. He claimed you could ring that car out day in day out with no problems since it was so light weight and the drivetrain itself was overkill for a car that light. Would it really be that reliable ?
just a little background on what the car is capable of my buddy has a challenger 372 with a couple mods running 0-60 in 3.7 seconds is his best time I’m about 1 tire length ahead of him up to about 80 mph then he just pulls after that. It’s pretty quick. But I’m not trying to get stranded if I shouldn’t be driving like that.
