The ignition on my truck doesn't work. Why?
I have a 76 chevy pickup and the ignition doesn't work. There's a wire that goes down to the starter, and I can hotwire it and the truck fires right up. But I can't find anything to hook that wire up to so I can actually use the ignition. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi sleekpete,
Welcome to the Chevy Forums.
When you state the ignition doesn't work, are you talking about the ignition switch, or the key at the ignition lock cylinder?
Sometimes the linkage between the lock cylinder and the ignition switch comes loose, and the ignition switch doesn't respond when you turn the key because the linkage isn't contacting the switch when you turn the key.
When you turn your key to the "on" position,(just before the springback"start" position) do your lights and gauges respond?
