Default Intake confusion

My boat has a 1992 chevy 5.7 with center bolt heads. On top of it is an ailing Holly 2 bbl which I despise and want to give a proper burial at sea.

A freind gave me a Edelbrock Performer manifold and I already have a marine Q-jet. I started to do the swap tonight and decided to double check the part numbers.

My new manifold is a Edelbrock 2101 and according to what I found online, I need a 2401.

Will the 2101 bolt up to my 92 Chevy motor or am I back on craigslist looking for a 2401 or something other?

They should both be a 12 bolt pattern intake.Question I am not sure of is if the marine intake is different for cooling etc.The other thought here is if the engine is cam well enough to be able to handle the four barrel.

I am familiar with boat engines, the factory uses the same basic engine for the 2 and 4 bbl versions so the cam should be good for a 4 bbl. The basic marine engine is 100% automotive and the only difference is the cam and what is bolted to them. (starter carb, dist etc..)

I thought the head angle where the intake bolted up was different in the newer style chevy centerbolt heads. Edelbrock lists 2 different part numbers for the old and new style intakes.

If my old style intake will fit on my newer centerbolt heads, I am golden. I just need to confirm this so I don't waste an afternoon and a gasket set finding out that they are indeed different.

The newer style intakes you are speaking of have a 8 bolt total and the early intakes are 12 bolts. The angle you talked about I think is exclusive to the newer style intakes. Those newer style intakes, short of 1995 which is a transitional yr which could have either, started in 1996.Really you can't gauge the style of intakes based on the center bolt valve covers.Because those before 1996 had 12 bolt patterns.

Hmmm...My motor is a 92. (prior to 96)
So what you are saying is that if the new intake has the same bolt count as the old intake, it should fit ok?

Default Center bolt,

The center bolt heads are milled at a different angle than some of your other gm heads, that is the reason they wont seal up, they take a special intake, C.P.

I respectfully disagree.I don't think those changes where not made until 1996.

And the confusion swirls...
Certainly there must be a casting number or something that will tell exactly what you need.

I havent tried doing the swap yet. Takin the boat out this weekend cuz the salmon are calling me, maybe next week.
