Default Key not turning in the ignition

Okay so I own a 2001 Monte Carlo SS and I was trying to leave the house when I put the key in the ignition the key would not turn AT ALL, I could remove it but it wouldn't turn. The steering wheel is not locked and the car is clearly in park. It was fine just 2 days ago and now something just magically went wrong while it was off. Please help.

Default Ignition

Hello...we had an 01 Monte Carlo...done the same thing. I also changed oil in cars for a living for 15 years. Had to start 1000's of cars over the years. And this problem is not isolated to just MC, but to the Grand Am, Grand Prix...ANYTHING with that dash ignition. You can try BARELY pulling back on the key after putting it in. And I'm talking a tiny bit, then try turning it. This problem will not away. Its a defect. You have to replace the switch. It looks like a PEZ dispenser. $20 part. Until you replace, the only thing you can is jiggle it, try the "barely pull out" method. You can google this problem, its widespread.

Nope that did not work. I went out to try and no luck. Everything I found tells me my ignition cylinder is bad?
