Default Kills Battery

We have a 2011 Impala. Less than 40,000 miles. It starts by radio begins malfunctioning. It won't load cds and radio will change stations and display stations but not sound. Also turn signal will have no sound also. It works though. Dash will go out. Battery will eventually totally discharge. We can disconnect battery and charge all will be well for a month or 2. Then it starts all over again. Dealership has checked it out and found no problem. Private mechanic check it thoroughly found no codes, alternator charging good. Factory Delco replaced first time this happened. Started about 2 years ago after a safety inspection requiring a data connection. Any ideas?

Have you load tested the battery at all?

Is it original? Time for a replacement?

No, you missed that. You said you disconnect it. What ever that means?
Did you charge it on a separate charger?

" We can disconnect battery and charge all will be well for a month or 2. "

So anyways, now you are claiming it's a new battery. Fine. I'd double check the alternator.

How long are your trips? 2-3 miles? 5? 10?

We travel all over the country. most trips are local but it died on a 1200 mile trip once. Texas to NC. It has been to two chevy dealers and one independent mechanic and they can find nothing wrong. Out of warranty now. DW told me it also has had "wacky" heater controls. Had me wondering if BCM going out. Never heard of one draining battery though.

Who is DW?

From what I've read about these parts - there are 4 actuators or so for the heat control on Impalas.

Sorry... totally missed that. I was searching on 'battery'...

ac delco could have been almost any part they sell...even the alternator.

I just had an AC Delco water pump arrive today for a f-body.

What does the battery read after a charge and then after installation over a night?

You are not doing anything excessive like charging a laptop while driving?
Or leaving a GPS plugged in overnight?

Short trips 3-5 times a day will kill a battery, especially after the winter we've seen in the 'north'. Not sure where you are at?

In south Texas last 6 months. DW, dear wife, drives the car. She never leaves anything plugged in. Battery in car now checked out good last month. It died then too. Battery still under warranty. This has been going on for going on two years. Battery will die riding down the road. It isn't consistent. Works fine for one to two months and starts this again.
