Hi,
I have 1987 caprice 4.3 V6 fuel injected. I am replaceing the MAP sensor (since my code scanner read that it was bad. I bought it but I can't find it in my car ,The haynes manuel says it is attached to the air cleaner but it is not there!?? can any one help me out with this one? I am going to try and attach a pic of the new sensor.

That does'nt look like a map sensor.

 

looks more like a knock sensor.

 

That is why I took the pic. I didn't think so (but I have no clue) that's what the auto parts store gave me. I'm taking it back tomorrow and I'll let u know

70mopar may know better than me, but the MAP sensor should be just to the right (as you're seated in the car) of the throttle body, mounted on a bracket with an elect plug & a vacuum line on the other end. sort of rectangular shaped.

 

I found out where the map sensor is, it is on the firewall wityh a hose coming from the throttle body, my problem was a dry rotted hose! I replaced it and now the car is running perfect again
