My check engine symble popped up on the dash. Onstar said it could be a pressure valve at the fuel tank or a purge solenoid valve. I have a 2007 chevy light duty truck with a 5.3 ltr with about 56,000 miles on it. Any ideas? is this something that a non mechanic but normal person can repair or replace parts to take care of? If not about how much for the repair?

If you could have the code read and post it on here, it'd be a lot more help. Could just be a bad gas cap throwing a code.
