No acceleration, truck died then wouldn't start.

Chains don't skip a tooth,they stretch or break,so by spinning anything on the serpintine belt is driven by crankshaft,so is timing chain,you will feel the play before camshaft spins,they all have a little play,did you pop distributor cap off for a check?
