Question Oil stuff

Quick question. Is it okay to use a multi-weigh oil (like 5w-30) in place of a single weigh oil (like SAE 30)? Now this is not rocket science here because the question pertains to a lawn mower, and I have multi-weigh oil on hand, but no single weight.

Funny you should mention this. I use 10w-30 in my Honda lawnmower no issues. It calls for 30 weight, but it won't hurt a thing using multi-viscosity motor oil.

Easy stuff for me. Years ago I was in the petroleum sales and distribution business, so I know a lot of things about petroleum products@Mr. Dude with a face.

Just don't mix them.

Yeah, its never a good idea to mix lubricants. I wouldn't use a 5w-30 in a Honda-powered generator, lawn-mower, or any other portable power 4-stole engine. I use Royal-Purple in all my small motors, like my Husky chainsaw, but of course, that's their two-cycle oil. In 4-strokes. I still use Royal-Purple, with the exception of my 2015 Chevy Malibu, where I use Valvoline full synthetic 0w-20 motor oil as Royal Purple did not meet the specifications for the 2.5-liter direct injection engine.I believe that they do meet the GM dexos II and ILSAC GF-5 specs now, however
