One Side Not Working
My son changed the starter in his Silverado last week. As he was connecting the battery the ratchet he was using must have hit the positive cable causing a ground. As he finished connecting everything, he started the truck. He then noticed that the RS windows, DS window switch for the RS, headlight, tail light, interior light, radio, AC/Heating unit were not working. Tried testing fuses today but no luck. So I have 2 questions.
1. I am starting at the fuses to see if he tripped one. But, not sure which fuse box I should be looking at and then which specific fuse? We do not have the owner's manual and I couldn't find anything online.
2. Assume that it is not the fuse. Any idea what it could be?

The types of things that are not working are managed by the BCM - Body Control Module (computer) on most newer GM trucks. The BCM manages lights, switches, things like that. Worst case is he somehow blew something on the BCM that is affecting all those.
Best case - check fuses both under the hood, relays under the hood, and the fuses at the end of the dash where the driver door opens. If you are lucky, it will be a fuse or relay. If you are unlucky, you will need a new BCM, which then has to be programmed to the specific vehicle.
You also may just need to RESET the BCM. There are a lot of odd things that can happen if you short out the battery cables or remove the battery for too long on modern vehicles.
Here is an article I found on resetting the BCM:
https://www.autozone.com/diy/engine/...control-module
My thoughts are the BCM could just be in a weird state as the battery was connected then briefly shorted, and it may need a longer "reset" by following the procedure Autozone outlines. If there is any anti-theft system, disable it prior to following that procedure, if at all possible.
