2006 GMC 1500HD
Crew Cab 4wd
160,000 miles

I had the codes pulled on my truck and the code b0790 showed up.

I'd like to help but p0790 isn't a code that should set. There's no trans DTC with that number. Try pulling it again and see what comes up.

Ok that's a transfer case neutral indicator circuit malfunction code. Typically what I see with this is the encoder motor position sensor wears out by contact brushes and causes sensor to ground out. This is,usually what I see and doesn't necessarily mean that's what you have. But the position switch I believe is around $50 as opposed to most places wanting to sell you a whole encoder motor for about $400.
