Default power window problems

Hello all...I have a 1999 Chevy Prizm (has a bunch of Toyota Corolla parts) with a driver side front power window problem. The other windows work fine. A few months ago, it would go down no problemand then I would have to move it back up a few inches at a time. Now, it moves down a couple of centimeters and it is hard to get back up. Waiting a while then pushing the button to go up works sometimes. Do I have a bad motor? Regulator? Switch? Need greased? I read that these motors shut off if too much resistance is detected (like from rust or lack of lubricant). Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you,

Brian

Technician Bagrees with Shawn It's usually a slow death, like what was described, when the motor starts to go out.

You guys were right. I replaced the motor with an aftermarket motor made in Korea bought at autozone for about $65. There were no rivots, all bolt and nuts. Didn't fit properly...had to use a grinder to get rid of some unneeded metal and plastic which kept holes from lining up. Greased the gear, installed, Works great now. Anyone else reads this, use caution when removing the motor as it might kick like scissors because of the spring action. Drilling through and putting a nut on a bolt is a good idea.

Thank you!
