Hi all!

I'm looking to replace my motor. Right now I have a 4 bolt main, but with covid related shortages, a remanufactured 4 bolt main isn't predicted to be in stock until December. But there are some 2 bolt mains ready sooner.

My question is: what problems could come up when going from a 4 bolt main engine to a 2 bolt main? Does it actually determine anything about how the engine will fit, for example matching up with the transmission, mounting, etc?

The difference is the main bearing caps have four bolts instead of 2, has nothing to do with size etc.

 

Ok great! I wasn't sure if it would be the same engine with that one mod, or if 2 bolt main was short hand for having a 2 bolt main, and also having other differences. Many thanks.
