Question Replacing Oil Pan gasket & Oil Pump. (Having problems)

Vehicle: 1995 Chevy Beretta

Engine: 3.1L V6

Operation: Replacing the Oil Pan gasket and Oil Pump.

Problem Question: Do the side bolts on the Oil Pan need to be removed before dropping the Oil Pan? I've never seen anything actually mounted to the Oil Pan on the inside (that's where the bolts run to).
