I have a 1990 Chevy Silverado I recently put a new fuel pump and gas tank and now when I start it up it runs rough for the first 10 seconds or so until the check engine light comes on, then it plows out a little cloud of white gas smelling smoke and runs fine. However it still runs rich (I can smell the gas) and it sometimes stalls when I am at a stop light. It is going through gas like crazy please help.

 

sounds like its running really rich.. what is the code reading?

It wouldn't hurt to run a compression test. It sounds like it could be a blown head gasket.
