Shifter cable problem?

Shifter cable problem?
Truck will shift into the P position on the dash, but highlights it as sitting in R. The column will lock out, and i can remove the keys, but it wont set in P. I looked at the shifter cable underneath and there doesnt seem to be an issue there. Could it possibly be in the dash?
