Something just isnt right
OK so I have a 2003 Silverado, 5.3, recently when I start the truck I smell something funny. Its rubbery smell goes away after a dozen miles or so. I suspect its either the Serpentine Belt of Power steering pump. It could be my imagination but the pump sounds a little bit louder than normal when I idle and turn the wheel. I guess my question is, does the power steering pump work fine and then quit, or does it just go out? also, My truck has 115K on it. Is that normal interval for the belt to be replaced? Additional: The power steering fluid looks fine and full. The belt also looks and feels solid. The truck just drives funny, kinda shaky just a tad. I have done all maintenance, I.e. change plugs, trans. service twice, reg. oil changes, replaced fuel pump already, fixed steering box issue.....also, are these repairs easy to handle or super difficult and approx what would a shop charge me....Im not rich by any means. I just paid the truck off and now Im faced with costly repairs. Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide me!
