Hello, this is my first post and I was wondering if it is possible to un-install my torsion bar and throw in some coil springs.
Torsion bad is just to rough on off-road and on street bumps.
I want something to absorb the road a little better.
Do I have to get a whole new lift kit or just the parts I need to make it happen?
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks guys.
I have a 6" RCD lift on my z71
35x12.5r18
With Bilstein shocks.

 

If the bars are cranked up to high the ride will be harsh. Mark the screws position and turn them down. If they are cranked, you may need to drop them ten full turns which equates to 3/4" drop...or even more. If it's better, level both sides and have it aligned.

What year is your truck? Does it even have mounting pockets for coil springs on the frame and control arms?

 

I have an 06, and oh really? This is my first lifted/truck if it wasn't obvious lol. So just turn em using the keys? Thanks for your help man.

 

i'd try that first. if it doesn't work, at least you can turn it back as you have indexed the bolts. anytime you adjust your ride height, it puts the alignment out.


if you decide to turns the bars back up. take the weight off the springs as it hard on the bolts to lift the truck up with all the weight on it.


3 turns of the screw equals only 1/4" change in ride height so you may have to turn them down at least 1 inch so the bars are not hitting the bump stops when the suspension jounces.
