40 years ago,to put some American Wheels on a FWD El Dorado I cranked the bars to get enough clearance for the wheels. Never had any problem with it.
Now I see they sell Torsion Bar Keys.
What do they do different?

 

They are longer, can be jacked higher than the stock keys and improve the ride quality when you jack it up.

 

i thought the more your crank the bars up the harder the truck rides

 

Correct. But with the stock keys, you can only crank it so far until the ride is unbearable, the aftermarket keys can be craked to the same height and ride better.
