Default Stuck in 4 Lo

Good day
05 Suburban 5.3 4x4; new transfer case in last 6 months
My wife called from Portland last night saying she was heading to her hotel stuck in 4 lo. Oh BTW happened a few days ago too. Pushes buttons and they just flash. I had her shift in to neutral and she heard a clunk and then was able to get back to 2 wheel regular drive mode. Any suggestions for when she calls me again this morning with the same problem?!

Was the servo shift motor replaced? I'm thinking either that, or the switch.

Don't know if the servo was changed.
How does it get itself in to 4 lo w/o pushing the button?

Bad switch, or "feely fingers". I've had issue with both switch, and shift motor with a 2000, and a 2003. The 2000 suburban my son now has. He screwed the transfer clutch disk together with 4 bolts, I'd have done 3, 0-120-270 deg. This keeps the transfer case locked in, and selects either 2-4 wd

"Feely Fingers"??
She made it back from Portland no further episodes. Says a couple times when she turns off car and walking away she hears a clunk or bang, like"throwing a baseball against the car". That does not sound too healthy to me!

After you get it in 2wd, disconnect the switch.

Mechanic found no codes, could not reproduce problem; replaced the switch.
Hopefully this is the final report!
